I’m Matt from Chaparral Motorsports here with the Alpinestars BNS Tech Carbon and the BNS Pro. Both can dramatically reduce the risk of a serious injury and you won’t even know you’re wearing it. Let’s check it out. So we have the tech carbon and the pro. They both have the new design and features, but the carbon will just be a bit lighter and stronger for obvious reasons. However, the pro is made from a fiberglass polymer which is still very nice, and that’s the only difference. Okay so let’s go through all of the new features starting with the new closure system… It now has a strong magnet that snaps it together and a pull tab to release it. This will make it much easier not only for you, but for the emergency personnel as well when they need to attend to a rider. It doesn’t take much for the brace to disassemble either. The pivot key is what keeps it all in line and allows it come apart with minimal movement to an injured rider…You even make take it apart to throw in your gear bag a lot easier. Now notice the front chest plate. It’s raised to have better contact with the helmet, preventing hyper flexion. The frame itself is now wider; the rear is much flatter and has more shape to it. The purpose for that is to accommodate a wider variety of helmet shapes and sizes. You’ll see compressed EVA foam padding throughout; this will help distribute the force of an impact. Also, the new BNS now comes with adjustable pads that are laminated with Lyrca. It comes with a set of 5mm and 10mm pads. So it’s fully customizable.
While we’re on that subject. You can now adjust the fitment with these clips. Before it was just multiple sized braces. Now it only comes in two sizes, XS-Med and Large-XXL. That should make it much easier for you get the perfect fit. Let’s talk about the new design of the rear stabilizer. They’ve made it a bit shorter and wider to spread the load across the shoulders and back. It’ll also reduce the risk of muscular injuries due to hyper extension and hyper flexion.
